The Selah Experience

Selah was born out of a desire to re-imagine Jewish life in South Austin. We seek to create a living Judaism that is experienced through vibrant and soulful prayer, transformative study of Torah, and purposeful engagement with our wider world. We are progressive and yet traditional, informal, creative, and committed to social justice.


Selah School

Selah School classes-1Selah now offers four religious school class levels (ages 4-K, 1st & 2nd graders, 3rd & 4th graders, and 5th & 6th graders)
Fall 2014 classes will take place Thursdays 4-5:45 PM
  • Music that enriches the program
  • Jewish holiday activities and discussions
  • Integrated art projects
  • Group conversations and literature experiences on Shabbat, mitzvot, Tzedakah and Jewish values
  • Hebrew vocabulary to enhance and expand learning projects

High Holidays 5775

56891aOn Erev Rosh Hashanah (September 24), we’ll meet at 6:30 pm for a lovely service led by Rabbi Gail Swedroe, Beth Richard, and the Selah Ensemble.  There will be apples, honey, and delicious homemade challah. I’d like to have a free ticket (Suggested donation $18)

On September 27, we’ll lead Tashlich, a soulful ritual, at the heart of Austin, Barton Springs.  Rabbi Lev Baesh and Amy Adler, both from Kol Halev, will join the Mazel Tov Kocktail Hour.  We’ll gather on the west end of the pool on the north side.  Music starts at 6 pm.  Tashlich starts at 6:30 pm.

Kol Nidre (October 3) will be at Congregation Agudas Achim on the J Campus off Far West.  Services start at 7pm and will be led by Rabbi Gail Swedore & the Selah Ensemble.  For tickets, please contact Lanie Bailey at 512-735-8410 or hhdtickets@caa-austin.org.
